Week 9 - I can not be sad...

I can not be sad... Because:

This week, I learned:
1. About learning styles, my own learning style and the utility of the learning styles evaluation into the students group, to get more effectiveness into the teaching process.
2. I learned more and more about the different tools that I have planned to use in my final project, my second reviewing was very illustrative about the features of the tools, limitations and expectations that I must to wait after I apply them into the english program.
3. Also this week I was fortunate to make my first Webquest, in my project I had planned to use this tool, but there's nothing like the experience and be clear about the benefits provides the Webquest. My theme for this week was: "Confusing Words".

I can not be sad... Because:

The next week I will have an opportunity to recap all the tools, learnings and thoughts from our tutor (Janines) and all my classmates.

I can not be sad... Because:

Definitely today I am much more capable than 9 weeks ago...

I can not be sad... Because:

On the next weeks I will have the opportunity to develop my project to collaborate with the SMEs, trying to build a better country.

I can not be sad... But... I WILL MISS YOU, I WILL MISS YOUR LEARNINGS, I WILL MISS YOUR THOUGHTS.

THANK YOU EVERYONE.

Week 8 - This week was a bit chaotic ... but full of learning!!

This week was a bit chaotic ... but full of learning!!

1. In making my first draft of the project, I realized that I learned a lot, I feel that I could organize and apply what we have been learned in this certification, I am very satisfied.

2. I learned a lot from my partner Shashinie, from Sri Lanka, her draft and her feedback were very interesting for me. Thank you very much, it really was a pleasure working with Shashinie and see that no matter how far we are or how different we are in objectives and circumstances, we can always learn about the other one.

3. ANVILL for me was something new, I'm a little slow in learning anything, but once I get it I blew up the most, I really hope to join the ANVILL's group, being a good teacher and take advantage of what others, have developed with so much talent, in this case I learned that large projects have great leaders (as Jeff) and great artists (as his team), so at work, I stay very motivated with the achievements of ANVILL. CONGRATULLATIONS!

4. I enjoyed!! create my first multiple-choice assessment with a tool as simple as "easytestmaker" henceforth I am your fan!!

5. And finally read about all my colleagues!!! means learning, and learning an learning!!! I always feel I need more time ... long time to digest what each of you has to offer. Thanks!

And to follow that we are almost there!

Week 7 - Efficiency Learning Signs

At this time I learned so much, I know definitely the challenge will be to put in order each of the ideas and concepts discussed in the last 6 weeks.

I have hard work to build my draft for next week and I'm expecting a great result, derived from that I have the knowledge and tools to achieve it.

This week we create a new rubric for my first one computer classroom, as I hope to apply soon and I want to share in this blog:

http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php?screen=ShowRubric&module=Rubistar&rubric_id=2197654 &

In this week despite being learning new things, I was applying concepts from previous weeks, as rubrics and lesson plans.

I am satisfied with the work because this time all tasks are performed in less time, a sign of effectiveness in teaching and learning process.

A thousand, thousand, thousand thanks.

Week 6 - Interactive PPT and Project on going...

For now I can not apply everything learned with my group of students of SMEs, because, after all I learned that it is best to structure a whole new learning program. ABCD will use the same method, supplemented by a tree of lessons that lead to a general objective of the program.

Next week I'll be ready to present a first draft of what will be the program at Level I.

Also in my Lesson Plan Week 4 did not consider the Interactive PPT and after exercise of this week 6, I think I definitely include something about it.

On the other hand, I have to explore the various tools that have recommended my BTSfriends, because I'm re-evaluating to make the videos of lessons in any of these tools instead of youtube, I do not know yet but I have EXTREMELY SURPRISED what you can do with Prezi and Voki!! but both tools are new to me and I have to study them, to start using them and of course included in my new lesson plan.

About the rubrics I have to work at least 2 more that are related to the evaluation of previous lessons I mention in my Lesson Plan Week 4 (ABC Tense Present, Past and Future and Pronunciation About ABC) in fact I must to build 2 lesson plans for.

So, I have much work ahead ... but begin to document and prepare a complete lesson, using BTS-IW technological tools learned, as part of my final project.

Week 5 - On the Race...

The experience this week has been instrumental in my view of the approach we want to give my English teaching project for SMEs.

I had a clear general idea of what I wanted to teach and therefore assess, but after what has been learned from the first week until the fifth, I am quite certain of how I must to do the following:
1. Define my goals.
2. Define lesson plans.
3. Define the resources available and appropriate for each lesson plan.
4. Define my methods of assessment and rules of the game.

Even now I am convinced of 2 things:
1. The importance of establishing methods of interaction between group members efficiently.
2. I want to implement (starting with the basics of course) a project of Teaching English via the Internet, aimed at SMEs. In a completely virtual e-learning scheme. I know it's a great challenge, but I'm confident that it is entirely possible.

Fully motivated to continue my own race. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQY7cp3dOJ0&feature=related

Week 4 - Benefits of Technology

Each time is shaped more strongly the study objectives and the technological tools that exist and can help us to overcome all the obstacles that a common teaching program confronts us.

To be building my first lesson plan I was aware of the detail and hard work that has to be behind in order to build a training program in English, which is my overall goal in the long term

It is very gratifying to work today, we have derived a method been led down very well structured.

This experience forced to me to think very well in the learning objectives and the best tools for the group context that I have.

For now, I am convinced of the usefulness and accessibility of the 3 tools I have chosen as the basis of  my first lesson plan:

1. Blogger.
2. Youtube Channel.
3. Skype.

Now, what follows is much, much, much work to be able to do really!!!!!!

Week 3 - Sharing and Sharing

This week was the week of "sharing!" learned to use a tool to share links in an orderly and easy to the many resources available online.

Use the delicious.com website is a gateway to endless possibilities for students and an opportunity to structure the interests of teachers in a clear and simple way.

On the other hand, reading a real example of a final project was very enjoyable, I loved reading the experience of a teacher with very understandable challenges in Latin American countries where the conditions of the classrooms or the resources themselves are not always ideal, but as she shows in your project, it is important that the teacher is convinced the project, apply the techniques we have learned and then implement them, and eventually with the help of end users, in this case the students , which are the main source and reason for any learning process, improve all aspects necessary supported by technological resources at our disposal. This week we had the good fortune then access what other teachers prepare derivative created in BTS-IW by University of Oregon! so it was a very nice gift! Now is so much clear for me my pending tasks...

And about the articles written by experts on Oral / Aural skills, were also quite enriching, talk about one of the major challenges of any English teacher anywhere in the world ... all references that I could access the recommendations of all group members are really helpful to overcome these obstacles, the challenge now is to select and implement those that work best for my students on the course objective.

Thank you for sharing so much knowledge!!

Week 2 - ABCD Objective

The ABCD method is one of the best structured methodologies that I have knew.

I had already had contact with this methodology in the course "Train of trainners" in Japan, and I applied to teach business topics in the SMEs.

But though I knew and had used it 2 years ago, indeed for the English class I was not thinking about how to apply it. It was really helpful to read the guides sent us with the basis of the method, and examples for application in these kind of english courses.

I enjoy greatly, running the exercise and really think about how practical and concise way the student could learn what is really planned.

Management of student expectations is one of the biggest challenges and the ABCD method is an extremely effective tool in order to overcome this challenge, since the method requires the teacher to think why and how, and helps students understand where they are arriving after the whole process, not imagining, but with tangible and measurable, what is their mission.

I am very happy because I see more and more the light on what I can improve in my current educational process, and although I know we are just beginning I love the idea of having a clear structure of our final work and how to apply it with our current students and / or the new ones.

Week 2 - Search Engines

This week, I had the opportunity to review beyond google .... and was totally unexpected, exciting and almost threatening, actually applied about 6 hours, just browsing the various options for specialized search engines that "noodletools.com" is documented.

Now I am completely convinced that the Sea of possibilities in information in the network, requires a variety of search engines of proportional dimmension.

Definitely created by Noodletools guide is extremely useful for people who have little time and need to find quality information to carry reference to our students.

In addition, it is very important mention the article talks about "The future of search" was very interesting, in summary, I think the most important is to realize that search engines are also a vehicle to "find" a vehicle to "gather information" of what people think, search, find and use. And at the end of time or as time passes, then there will be a virtual database that allows for as robust anthropological study but also organic and interactive, for use in his own contemporaneity.

Week 1 - Reflecting

My experience about my first week studying BTS-IW (Building Teacher Skills - Interactive Web).

This week was very excited and very enriching week, because I had the opportunity to put working my mind in how the technology can help students in their learning process.

It was very interesting the task, lectures and discussions that we had this week about:

  • Ground rules for discussions

  • Online discussions - comparing rubrics

  • Needs analysis survey - through email link

  • Blogs Blogger how-to

  • Blogging for ELT http://www.teachingenglish.org.uk/think/articles/blogging-elt

  • Guidelines for Discussion and Rubrics - download and print this document to use as a reference whan you post on Nicenet.

  • ABOUT THE BLOG!!!

When our coordinator asked us to create a blog where we can share our experience week by week, thought it was a GREAT IDEA!!!

I have created other blogs before (as a jobbie), but this time was special and different experience, this time, I thougth in the functionallity and I thougth in use it in the medium or long term, thats why it was a bigger challenge.

I wanted to do something special, so I decided to involve some friends in my first blog post!!!

I asked them (in facebook), share with me one English word that they like it and I created a collage with the results!!! I Titled "WHAT THE PEOPLE THINK WHEN THEY THINK IN ENGLISH". Thank you so much all my friends!!!!! I hope you enjoy it!!!!!

Post-script: You will find the English word and then the nickname of the thinker...
